Azurity Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Director of Medical Education who will define and execute the medical communications and medical education strategy within the Medical Affairs organization and will be responsible for providing Medical review oversight within the Promotional Material Review Committee (PMRC) and Scientific Review Committee (SRC). This role ensures scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and alignment with Azurity’s mission to deliver innovative, ready-to-use medicines that improve patient access and outcomes. The Director will report to the Head of Global Medical Operations & Excellence, Medical Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Communications & Education Strategy
- Develop and lead Azurity’s medical communications and education strategy across the product lifecycle, from pre-launch through post-marketing.
- Oversee development of integrated scientific platforms and core medical narratives aligned with Azurity’s therapeutic focus areas
- Lead Medical Affairs–driven education initiatives, including disease-state education, product-related scientific education, medical symposia, and advisory boards.
- Ensure alignment across medical communications, publications, congress strategy, field medical engagement, and medical information.
- Support product launch readiness by developing foundational scientific content and educational frameworks for internal and external stakeholders.
PMRC Oversight & Governance
- Provide strategic and operational oversight of Promotional Material Review Committee (PMRC), serving as the senior Medical Affairs representative.
- Ensure timely, compliant review of promotional materials, including print, digital, omnichannel assets, field tools, speaker materials, and patient education resources.
- Ensure all materials are scientifically accurate, balanced, consistent with approved labeling, and compliant with FDA regulations, PhRMA Code, and Azurity policies.
- Partner closely with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial teams to drive efficient review cycles and resolve complex issues.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve PMRC SOPs, workflows, training, and performance metrics.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Serve as a trusted medical advisor to Commercial partners while maintaining appropriate separation between promotional and non-promotional activities.
- Collaborate with Clinical Development to align emerging data with medical communication and education plans.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to internal stakeholders on medical communications standards, PMRC requirements, and compliance best practices.
Quality, Compliance & Inspection Readiness
- Ensure ongoing compliance with evolving FDA guidance and industry best practices related to promotional materials and medical education.
- Support internal audits and regulatory inspections related to PMRC and medical communications activities.
- Maintain inspection-ready documentation and governance frameworks.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Advanced degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent life sciences degree.
- 8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Demonstrated leadership in medical communications, medical education, and promotional review processes.
- Proven experience supporting product launches and lifecycle management.
- Strong cross-functional leadership experience in matrixed environments.
- People management experience or demonstrated matrix leadership preferred.
