About Baidu, Inc.
We started in 2000 as a search engine. In 2010, we began integrating artificial intelligence and have since built a complete AI stack, from deep learning frameworks and models to various applications. We develop our own technology at every level of this stack, including AI chips and software architecture. Our search engine handles billions of requests daily for 1 billion internet users in over 100 countries.
Our diverse offerings include search, advertising (Baidu AdSense), O2O services, group buying, mobile services, website navigation, maps, social networks, software, online music, online video, games, entertainment, and translation. Our AI capabilities, which grew from our search engine, cover voice, image recognition, knowledge graphs, and natural language processing. We’ve invested in deep learning, conversational AI operating systems, autonomous driving, and AI chips.
Our technological assets include Baidu Brain, which provides over 270 open AI capabilities and handles more than a trillion calls daily. For computing, we developed the cloud-based Kunlun 1 chip, used in our search engine and smart cloud. The Kunlun 2, a 7nm chip with three times the performance, is planned for mass production. PaddlePaddle (FeiJiang) is our self-developed deep learning framework, used by 2.65 million developers and 100,000 businesses. We have ranked first in China for AI patent applications and authorizations over the past three years. Our growth strategy focuses on our mobile ecosystem, Baidu AI Cloud, Intelligent Transportation, Intelligent Driving, and other AI areas.
