About Book of the Month
We relaunched Book of the Month in 2016, building on a legacy that began in 1926. Every month, our editorial team selects 5-7 new fiction titles, including both popular genres and exciting new voices. Members then pick one book, or skip the month if nothing appeals to them, without being charged. We ship their chosen book directly to them.
Our mobile app lets users participate in a Reading Challenge, earn prizes, and get notifications about new selections. We also offer a loyalty program, with savings starting after a member receives three boxes, and a Reader’s Guarantee: if you don’t like a book, we’ll replace it for free. Gift memberships are also available.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to highlight the best new fiction. We celebrate and champion emerging authors, helping readers discover books they might not have found otherwise. We believe in inspiring a more curious and thoughtful culture by introducing compelling new voices to a wider audience.
Since 1926, we have chosen many unknown books that later became iconic American fiction. Each year, our members vote for a “Book of the Year” to recognize great achievements in fiction.
Team & Culture
We are a company of 51-200 employees. We primarily work in the office, with most teams coming in 4-5 days a week, though we do offer a hybrid schedule.
We look for pragmatic, results-oriented team members who are adaptable and tenacious in overcoming challenges. We value career growth and a positive team dynamic. Our work style emphasizes high standards, clear organization with agendas and roadmaps, and the ability to quickly adapt.
We prefer collaboration over autonomy and expect team members to be open to frank deliberation, disagreement, and debate. While we aim for intentional action, we also enjoy good-natured banter during meetings. Employees often describe our environment as collaborative and fast-paced, filled with passionate, driven, and supportive colleagues who help each other grow.
