Founded in 2013 by Jack Conte and Sam Yam, we help video creators, podcasters, musicians, writers, game developers, artists, bloggers, and comic book creators earn income outside of ad-based ecosystems. We do this through memberships and digital shops for selling content.

We support creators with features like real-time group chats, comments, direct messages, and email communication. We also provide in-depth analytics, relationship management tools, and secure payment processing. Our payment features include continuous adherence to global certification and compliance standards, global currency conversion, ²⁴⁄₇ fraud monitoring, and acceptance of multiple payment methods like PayPal, major credit cards, and Venmo, along with recovery services for failed payments.

More than 300,000 creators use us, and over 10 million fans pay for memberships each month (with an additional 100 million free memberships). Since 2013, creators on Patreon have collectively earned over $10 billion.

Patreon has 201-500 employees and operates with a hybrid work model. It has offices in San Francisco, New York, and Porto, with teammates working remotely worldwide. Many hybrid roles require working in the San Francisco or New York City office two days a week. Some roles, such as the Customer Happiness Technical Specialist, are fully remote for US-based employees.
