Job Description

BoostDraft is a software engineering company that develops IDE for documents. It was founded by MIT and Stanford grad students, developing an assisted document editor for documents. It is a new document editor that employs error checking, reference checking and auto-completion using both rule-based approach and NLP, like what coding editors/IDE (e.g. VSCode, Pycharm) do.

Background & Traction

We are currently focusing on Lawyers who draft relatively standardized but long documents, such as contracts. With only four years after our product launch, we already have more than 10,000 active paid users. We have several long-term, large-scale contracts with famed enterprises and law firms. As a result, we achieved significant success, including profitability and exponential growth, all without relying on external funding for nearly four years.

A technical background is not a requirement for this role. At the same time, this position offers one of the best pathways for non-technical professionals to step into the high-tech domain. If this is you, please read on!

We build software for the legal industry, a specialized domain that sits at the edge of rapidly evolving technology. We believe strong products come from teams with diverse backgrounds, not only from legal or technical expertise.

We are looking for individuals who are great communicators, comfortable working in both Japanese and English, and can champion collaboration across different functions. Curiosity, learning speed, and intellectual agility matter more to us than a specific academic background. How You Will Work

You will add quality to our product roadmap.

Work closely with Product Managers and Customer Success to deepen understanding of our customers. This includes clarifying ambiguous feedback, conducting regular customer interviews, and helping product teams stay accountable to maintaining strong NPS.

You will add quality to our onboarding experience.

Partner with Customer Success and Sales to identify blockers and friction in product demos and onboarding. You will focus on finding the most efficient and cost-effective ways to resolve these issues by aligning internal and external resources.

You will add delight to our user experience

Collaborate with Product Designers to uncover local usage patterns and established habits. You will apply these insights in early testing so that design specifications entering development are closely tailored to our customers.

Useful experiences from your recent job(s)

  • Strong bilingual communication skills in Japanese and English, gained through: Working in foreign or multinational companies, long-term education, or life experience abroad
  • Hands-on experience talking directly with customers, such as interviews, feedback calls, on-site visits, or workshops.
  • Experience working in fast-moving environments where priorities change and you need to coordinate across multiple teams to keep things moving.
  • Ability to look at a problem from multiple angles— user impact, business opportunity, and risk—and help decide what matters most right now.
  • Experience navigating different team goals and KPIs, and finding practical ways to move everyone forward together.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and learning on the fly—you enjoy picking up new skills, tools, or domains as the business evolves.
  • Experience in roles where you had to wear many hats, such as: Associate Product Manager, Consultant or Analyst, Project Coordinator / Project Assistant, Product Marketing or Growth roles, etc.
  • Exposure to legal training, former/current legal professional, or participation in legal department work is a super plus!

Visa and Relocation

Our teams are working fully remotely, and we are expanding our global presence. While our headquarters are currently in Japan, relocation to Japan is not mandatory. If you wish to relocate, we are happy to help you obtain a visa.

  • Fully remote

※For employees residing near Tokyo, there may be opportunities to work in person several times a month

  • Flexible working time

    • Flexible time: 6:00 am - 11:30 am / 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
    • Core time: 11:30 am - 3:00 pm
  • Virtual Office

    • You’ll have the ability to craft a character within a virtual office environment and engage with fellow colleagues through interactive experiences
