Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, cloud networking, and enterprise transformation and modernization. This role will be instrumental in architecting and evolving cloud infrastructure for a major reinsurance client to support scalable, secure, and future-ready platforms. You will be part of a team leading modernization efforts, driving cloud-native adoption, and ensuring robust networking foundations are applied across hybrid and cloud environments. The role is fully remote, anywhere in Romania.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient Azure cloud solutions
- Lead modernization of legacy systems into cloud-native architectures
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or ARM templates
- Architect and manage complex Azure networking setups including Virtual Networks, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, Private Link, Network Security Groups
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of cloud network infrastructure
- Collaborate with security teams to implement best practice/principles and ensure secure connectivity
- Drive cloud transformation initiatives aligned with business and IT strategy
- Migrate and modernize workloads using solutions such as containers (e.g. Kubernetes, AKS), serverless, and PaaS offerings
- Monitor and optimize cloud performance, reliability, and cost using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Cost Management
- Implement governance and compliance controls using Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and Sentinel
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
Requirements:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and architecture
- Strong expertise in Azure networking and hybrid connectivity solutions
- Proven track record in cloud transformation and modernization projects
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS) and serverless computing
- Familiarity with cloud security frameworks and best practices
- Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-700, AZ-400) are highly desirable
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Agile and DevOps mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
