Carbon Direct

We founded Carbon Direct in 2020 as a science-first carbon management firm. We help organizations measure, reduce, and remove carbon emissions using science-backed solutions and our integrated platform.

Our services include advisory—where we apply our scientific, data, and policy expertise—and providing high-quality carbon removal credits. These credits cover nature-based, hybrid, and engineered solutions, all with quality and delivery safeguards. We also offer a software platform to manage carbon footprints, create reduction plans, and build carbon removal portfolios.

Our work focuses on carbon accounting, measurement, credits, offsets, removal, decarbonization, energy transition, and project diligence, as well as general climate advisory. We work with clients like Microsoft, JPMorgan Chase, American Express, and Shopify, as well as governments and private companies. In total, our clients are committed to managing over 100 million tonnes of carbon dioxide. Our team includes over 70 scientists who advise on various carbon technologies.

Our mission is to enable meaningful, equitable, and science-based climate action. We believe that applying science is the best way to solve the climate crisis. This belief shapes how we build our science team, analyze policy, integrate market experience, and develop software.

Carbon Direct has 51-200 employees, including over 70 scientists. The team is spread across 4 countries and more than 10 U.S. states. While many work remotely, Carbon Direct also has offices in Seattle, WA, and Oakland, CA.
