Global Sourcing Manager

💰 $132k-$199k

Job Description

At Carbon, our mission goes beyond 3D printing.  We are enabling creators everywhere to make what the world needs, right now.  Our company is built on the idea that diverse fields of study must come together to solve intractable problems. We have grand ambitions to create technology that will influence industry around the world. You will be joining a diverse team with a vibrant culture, where team success is as important as celebrating individual contributions.

Help us change the world and we will help you change yours.

As a seasoned professional, you will own the end-to-end category strategy for our highly technical Light Engine and electronics portfolios. At the manager level, you are expected to operate with high autonomy, transforming complex business needs into a unified, global sourcing direction. Your work will directly impact our business processes and product scaling, ensuring we are not just meeting demand, but anticipating the future.

This is a Hybrid role; requiring at least 3 days a week in our Bay Area, CA office.

Strategic Impact & Responsibilities

  • Category Architecture: Own the full lifecycle of the Light Engines, PCBA, Cables, and accessories categories. You will define the long-term business case, supplier selection, and executive alignment, moving the team from reactive fixes to proactive, multi-year roadmaps.
  • Complex Negotiations & Commercial Excellence: Lead high-stakes negotiations for MSAs, NRE, and open-book pricing. You will develop sophisticated cost models and risk-buy frameworks that provide a meaningful impact on the company’s bottom line.
  • Supply Chain Resilience & Compliance: Build and scale a global supply base. This includes mapping sub-tier suppliers and raw materials to ensure geopolitical compliance and resilience across the extended chain.
  • Innovation through AI & Automation: Actively identify and implement AI-driven tools or automated workflows to eliminate repetitive manual tracking. You will be a champion for using technology to free up your (and the team’s) time for high-value strategic initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Translate engineering requirements into actionable sourcing plans. You will partner with Engineering, Finance, and Program Management at all levels to ensure our supply readiness aligns with major growth milestones.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: You are a leader on the team. You will proactively mentor team members, share your professional network, and role-model our “Ways of Working” to help uplift the entire Operations organization.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years of progressively complex experience in strategic sourcing or supplier management (6 years with a Master’s).
  • Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of electronic and module-level cost drivers (complex opto-mechanical assemblies, high performance electronics and advanced materials).
  • Strategic Track Record: Proven success owning a category at scale, including leading complex negotiations and defining long-term cost-down strategies.
  • Communication: Executive presence with the ability to inspire stakeholders and communicate clearly in high-stakes forums.
  • Technical Mindset: A passion for innovation and a desire to use AI and automation to streamline traditional supply chain functions.
  • Work Environment: Hybrid role—3 days onsite at our office in Sunnyvale, CA.

Leadership Profile

  • Knowledge: You are a seasoned expert in advanced electronics. You regularly consider industry trends and professional concepts to resolve complex, multi-variable issues.
  • Complexity & Scope: You thrive on diverse, cross-departmental projects. You are comfortable defining new procedures and successfully influencing multiple departments at once.
  • Autonomy: You determine your own methods and procedures on a broad range of assignments, escalating to leadership only for particularly difficult roadblocks.
  • Visionary Thinking: You don’t just solve the problem in front of you; you think about how to scale that solution across the entire organization.

You do not need to match every listed expectation to apply for this position. Here at Carbon, we know that diverse perspectives foster the innovation we need to be successful, and we are committed to building a team that encompasses a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and skills
