We started Freeform in 2019 to build software-defined, autonomous metal 3D printing factories. We provide physical production services, meaning clients can order parts from us instead of buying machinery. Our technology combines advanced sensors, real-time controls, and data-driven learning to ensure every part we produce is precise and meets digital verification standards. This service model allows our clients to always benefit from the latest technology advancements.

Our founders are former SpaceX engineers. We use real-time predictive AI with strong computing power to make high-quality parts quickly. We want to make 3D printing widely available for many industries. Our expertise includes 3D printing, autonomous manufacturing, machine learning, data science, industrial automation, and hardware development. We offer manufacturing as a service.

We work with industries like aerospace, defense, aviation, advanced energy, consumer electronics, transportation, motor sports, industrial, marine, robotics, and automotive. We produce parts for everything from rocket engines to Formula 1 cars. We’ve raised $60 million from investors, including Founders Fund, Threshold Ventures, Two Sigma Ventures, and NVIDIA’s NVentures.

Our mission is to make the power of 3D printing available to all industries and help foster innovation. We want to make advanced manufacturing accessible and quickly scale new ideas. Our leadership team includes people who have worked at companies like Apple, Google, Tesla, SpaceX, and Velo3D. Our CEO, Erik Palitsch, was the Principal Architect of the Starship Vehicle and led the Merlin & Raptor Rocket Engine Programs at SpaceX. Tasso Lappas, our Chief Scientific Officer, was CTO at Velo3D and held leadership roles in technical direction and R&D at Disney Animation and Sony Imageworks. Every employee at Freeform is a shareholder.
