About Catawiki
We were founded in Amsterdam in 2008 as an online marketplace for special objects. We hold weekly online auctions, typically running for 7-10 days, offering over 75,000 special objects each week across more than 600 auctions. Our offerings are curated by over 240 in-house experts specializing in categories such as Art, Design, Jewellery, Fashion, Classic Cars, and Collectables. Our experts review and select submitted objects, rejecting over 1 million annually.
Our platform connects over 10 million unique monthly visitors from more than 60 markets and supports 17 languages, facilitating transactions between buyers and sellers globally. About two-thirds of the objects auctioned on our platform sell within ten days.
For buyers, the process involves creating a free account, bidding on objects, and making payments through a secure system. We hold payments in escrow until the object is received. Sellers submit objects for online review by our experts, and once sold, they prepare to ship the item. We offer support services like account managers and customer experience specialists. We charge both a seller fee and a Buyer Protection fee.
Our headquarters are at Sint Jorissteeg 2, 1012 XV Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We operate in the Internet Marketplace Platforms industry.

We employ over 800 individuals from more than 60 nationalities. Our headquarters are in Amsterdam, with additional offices in Paris and Lisbon. We foster a global, diverse, and inclusive culture with a flat organizational structure.
We operate in an engineering-driven and highly collaborative environment that emphasizes ownership, openness to change, customer-centricity, feedback, and customer passion. Our culture also supports a data-driven approach to strategy and operations.
Benefits & Perks
We offer various benefits and perks to our employees. These include a €100 Catavoucher when you join and a €50 Catavoucher on each birthday. Employees receive an extra day off annually to pursue personal passions. We also provide additional time off for significant work anniversaries (at 3, 5, 8, and 10 years) and life events such as marriage, engagements, or moving house.
We operate a hybrid work model, with offices in Amsterdam, Paris, and Lisbon. Specific arrangements may vary by location, and some roles might be fully remote or office-based. Employees are offered a permanent contract, typically with a 6-month probation period, and a competitive annual gross base salary.
Location-specific benefits may include comprehensive health insurance from day one (covering dental and access to hospitals/clinics), a work-from-home allowance, and covered commuting expenses between home and office. We also support employee growth through learning and development initiatives, including clear development plans and mentorship programs.
