Our platform prioritizes data security and privacy, offering flexible deployment across major cloud providers, private cloud environments, or on-premises.

Our main products are:

• Command: A family of generative models that supports 23 languages. It integrates into existing systems to power AI applications that reason, act, and generate insights from proprietary data.
• Embed: A model for semantic text representation. It captures text meaning, converts text to vectors for efficient retrieval, and uncovers data patterns.
• Rerank: A model for refining search results by relevance. It optimizes document relevance, personalizes search results, and dynamically updates based on user interactions.

In 2025, we launched North, an AI platform for workplace productivity. It uses agentic capabilities and advanced retrieval to automate routine tasks, speed up workflows, and provide securely grounded insights from enterprise data.

We were founded in 2019 and are headquartered in Toronto, Canada. We secured nearly $1 billion in funding between 2021 and 2024.

In 2022, we established Cohere Labs, an open science initiative for machine learning problems. It has grown to over 4,500 community members and published more than 100 research papers.

Aidan Gomez (CEO), Nick Frosst, and Ivan Zhang founded Cohere. The executive team includes a Chief AI Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and Senior VPs and VPs across different departments.
