The US Payroll Supervisor supports the overall management of US payroll operations at Lush. This role plays a key part in supporting talent across the business by managing day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring processes keep pace with evolving business needs, and identifying challenges and opportunities with clear plans to address them.
In this role, you will ensure payroll runs accurately and on time while supporting the team in a high-volume, multi-state environment. You will also identify opportunities to improve how payroll work flows across the business and support changes that strengthen efficiency and accuracy.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, The US Payroll Supervisor’s core responsibilities will include :
- Lead and coordinate daily US payroll processing activities
- Lead day to day payroll functions including processing time records, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records and calculating payrolls
- Oversee the US individual team member’s payroll calculations, maintaining visibility on challenges and ensuring company policy and governmental regulations are in accordance
- Oversee and ensure that payroll is in accordance with tax code and governmental regulation in United States
- Continuously aim to enhance efficiency, improve delivery and lead the team in a customer centric manner, by evaluating current processes and procedures and supporting required changes.
- Provide in the moment leadership and coaching to all levels of payroll administrators
- Support leading the tax year end payroll process – including W2s and other reporting and reconciliations to ensure tax forms are issued accurately and deadlines are met

- Comply with all laws applicable to payroll, including: Federal and State tax laws, court mandated garnishments and wage assignments; Support the implementation of controls to ensure the accuracy of payroll processing in a timely fashion
- Process USA payroll including changes in payroll data.
- Review that new pay codes set up during the year are properly mapped to W-2; ensure employer paid benefits are reported on W-2
- Liaise with external auditors for the year end audit as well as for annual WC audit, etc.
- Reconcile vacation and sick balances monthly. Balance vacation at the end of the year and roll over vacation balances into a new year in accordance with company policy
- Reconcile payroll records to ensure records of employment and remittances are submitted accurately and on time
- Process payroll for salaried employees on a semi-monthly basis
Skills and experience
Required:
- 5 to 7 years of US payroll experience in a high-volume environment
- Experience processing payroll across multiple US states and jurisdictions
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) or similar HRIS/payroll systems
- Strong working knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance and procedures, including labour laws, employment standards and statutory remittances across all jurisdictions in which LUSH operates
- Advanced experience with computer software applications including Word, Excel
- Proven ability to mentor and coach a team of high performing professionals
- Experience payroll tax audits, income tax forms, benefits administration, employee expenses and payroll accruals
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through all levels of organization in a customer centric manner
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Must be able to legally work in Canada
Preferred:
- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
- US Payroll certification
- Experience working in a retail environment

This salary range is based on an assessment of the local market and may vary depending on the successful candidate’s location. This range is based on base salary and does not include additional bonus program and total rewards eligibility.
Base Salary Range
$87,000—$100,000 CAD
