Job Description
Ready to kickstart your accounting career with a team that actually moves? Comoto is looking for a Junior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our crew. This isn’t just about processing paperwork; it’s about being an integral part of the financial foundation for the brands that power the powersports industry.
Our AP team operates with a high level of discretion and accountability. We live by our core value, “Share The Road,” by demonstrating integrity in our decision-making and treating our vendors and coworkers with the utmost respect.
If you’re someone who genuinely enjoys the details, data entry, matching invoices, navigating Excel, and solving the puzzles that keep a business running smoothly, you’ll fit right in with the Comoto Accounting team.
Please Note: this is a hybrid position that will require our Junior AP Specialist to be at our headquarters 2-3 days a week between Tuesday-Thursday.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain the Flow: Monitor accounting emails for operating invoices; enter and code the proper general ledger entries in our system.
- Resolve Discrepancies: Collaborate across various Comoto teams to identify and fix mismatches between what was billed and what was received.
- Payment Logistics: Handle the recording of credit card payments and manage the filing/mailing of weekly company checks.
- Data Accuracy: Determine whether payments are defined as prepaid, capitalized, or accrued to ensure accurate GL and Department coding.
- Vendor Partnership: Work directly with vendors to obtain W-9s, verify information, and address open invoices or payment delays.
- Audit Support: Assist outside auditors with invoice backup and documentation.
Qualifications
What You Bring:
- The Basics: At least one year of AP experience (upcoming grads with internship or co-op experience are encouraged to apply!). Bonus points if you’ve worked within the AP function of a retailer.
- Accounting Knowledge: A solid understanding of fundamental accounting processes and a high level of accuracy.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (specifically formulas, pivot tables, and VLookups) and familiarity with Gmail.
- Collaboration: A team-player mindset and the ability to work closely with others to resolve account discrepancies.
- Systems: Experience with JDE is a definite plus.
