Job Description
Docker has been one of the most loved brands in developer tooling, trusted by more than 20 million monthly users and over 20 billion container image pulls. From solo founders to the world’s largest companies, developers rely on Docker to build, share, and run their applications across our suite of products including Docker Desktop, Docker Hub, and Docker Scout.
We are a globally distributed, remote-first team building the tools that define how software gets built and delivered. As AI agents redefine software development, Docker is at the center of that shift, providing the sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure that make autonomous workflows trustworthy by default.
The sbx team is building Docker’s sandboxing product—a solution that lets AI agents run safely and at scale, with strong isolation and enterprise-grade governance built in. sbx is growing quickly, and the opportunity in front of the team is significant. In this role, you would manage the team responsible for taking sbx from an exciting new product to something customers rely on every day. This means leading the team on feature development, owning the customer experience end to end, and driving the product to success in market. You will be accountable for the operational excellence and delivery of the team.
The successful candidate is product-minded and customer-obsessed—in the best way. They have a strong technical background and remain hands-on: comfortable diving into the code, the architecture, or a customer problem when it matters. But what sets them apart is an instinct for what makes a product land: they sweat the UX, stay close to customers, and treat adoption and retention as engineering problems worth solving. They are skilled at growing and managing senior individual contributors, have a track record of shipping products people love, and are energized by the challenge of getting something new to market.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of engineers building and scaling the sbx product.
Own the customer experience—from first run to enterprise deployment.
Align the team with business and product goals by working closely with product management.
Drive the product roadmap and ensure it reflects what customers actually need.
Ensure predictable delivery and operational excellence of the components the team ships.
Facilitate communication across teams and status reporting for critical projects.
Hire and retain talent.
Hold a high bar for engineering excellence.
Qualifications
5+ years experience managing a high-performing team.
5+ years experience as a software developer.
Track record of shipping products that succeeded in market—not just products that shipped.
Strong instinct for UX and a history of advocating for the customer in technical decisions.
Experience working with enterprise customers or building products with enterprise requirements (security, governance, compliance).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable with a high degree of autonomy and the ability to work remotely across time zones.
