We started in 2017 as a software company offering a container management platform. Our platform unifies Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman environments, providing a single interface for management. It works for large-scale enterprise IT, industrial, and IoT deployments, as well as edge environments. We help teams streamline container operations, making it easier to deploy, troubleshoot, and secure their environments.

Our features include GitOps automation for deployments, access controls with RBAC, SSO/LDAP/OIDC, and policy controls. We also offer fleet management for thousands of clusters and remote edge nodes. The platform is cloud-neutral, running on bare metal, multi-cloud, or edge environments. We aim to make Kubernetes operations more accessible.

We launched Portainer CE in 2018. The Business Edition followed in 2020, adding enterprise features like RBAC and audit logs. By 2020, our platform reached 1 billion Docker pulls, and in 2021, we adopted an open-core model.

Our mission is to remove the complexities of container technology. We want to enable everyone to build, scale, and innovate without friction. We aim to empower everyone to modernize quickly and without complexity. Our vision is to develop the world’s most accessible and effortless container management platform.

We are a globally distributed team of 51-200 employees. Our work environment is remote, async-first, and time zone-friendly. We collaborate across global time zones and hold occasional in-person meetups.
