We are seeking an experienced Senior Field Application Bioinformatics Scientist who will play a pivotal role supporting our growing global customer base. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who is passionate about seeing customer success and winning for the company. We are looking for candidates with a solid background in NGS and cell biology bioinformatics. The hired candidate will need to be physically located in San Diego and be willing to remotely support customers around the globe. This role will report to the Director of Global Field Applications and will be a role at our San Diego headquarters. Additionally, this role will embed with our amazing software teams and be an integral part of contributing to the commercial development of our software tools.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting issues related to customers’ bioinformatics pipeline for both NGS and multiomics
- Supporting commercial team with their software applications and providing high level product training
- Displaying professionalism, understanding, tact, fairness, and technical knowledge in all customer interactions
- Providing strategic and competitive feedback to marketing and product development teams
- Working independently on significant and unique issues requiring collaboration with key decision-makers and senior managers across the organization which may impact future products, concepts, and technologies
- Delivering remote customer training and workshops
- Utilizing service CRM software to accurately identify and document customer opportunities
- Collaborating with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processes
- Infrequent travel to customer sites and commercial meetings is required
Education and Experience:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or related field
- Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in NGS and multiomics pipelines strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and tissue handling required
- Background in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, mathematics, or related fields
- Exceptional development skills, especially in the implementation of novel algorithms
- C++ and/or C# programming skills
- Proficiency in scripting with Python
- Knowledge of cloud and related technologies (AWS, Docker) desired
- Must be highly motivated and have strong problem-solving ability
- Excellent communication and strong relationship building skills
- Highly collaborative and adaptable; able to work well within multidisciplinary teams
- High degree of comfort navigating technical project discussions
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player
- Demonstrated account management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds
- Must be flexible in working hours as this position may require customer support during non-regular business hours

Base Compensation Pay Range:
- $118,000 - $144,000
In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.
Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
