Job Description
The Associate Research Analyst/Research Analyst role is a part of Economies and Consumers Data team, focusing on researching a wide range of internationally comparable socioeconomic indicators for 210 countries and 1219 cities worldwide.
An Associate Research Analyst/Research Analyst will be required to work both within the team and independently to research, standardize, update, and constantly expand database material to meet the needs and deadlines of the publications schedule. She/he will also be involved in improving data research processes, aiming for greater efficiency and higher data quality. In addition, the role requires providing support to Sales and Consulting and engaging with client queries.
Key responsibilities:
Researching, updating, and extending data from national and international statistical sources
Identifying and maintaining relations with major national, international, and pan-regional sources, ensuring that our databases include their latest published socio-economic data
Standardizing raw statistical data to ensure cross-country, cross-indicator and city-country comparability
Constantly monitoring and improving data gathering and standardization practices, with a focus on automation and streamlining
Analyzing and manipulating statistics in accordance with our methodology, performing calculations and numerical analysis as required using MS Excel
Collaborating with Sales and Consulting teams to address client queries and requests
Skills/Proficiencies required:
A degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
Understanding of and interest in international economic, demographic, and industry trends
Experience in research, numerical analysis, and data manipulation
A high level of numeracy, with a strong interest in understanding statistical data and presenting it creatively
Extensive knowledge of MS Excel
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (both oral and written)
Knowledge of econometric/statistical software package R is an advantage
Flexibility, ability to work independently, and full responsibility for specific day-to-day functions
A methodical approach to repetitive tasks with unwavering attention to detail, even under tight deadlines
