About Excella

Founded in 2002, we provide digital services and consulting for federal agencies, commercial clients, and nonprofits. We help organizations with technology challenges and develop solutions for them. Our specialties include Agile transformation, IT modernization, software development (Java, .NET, Python), data science, artificial intelligence, cloud solutions, DevOps, business intelligence, UI/UX, and project management.

We developed tools such as the Contracts and Grants Analytics Portal (CGAP) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG), which uses AI to combat fraud, waste, and abuse. We also use Agile methods for AI and machine learning development.

We are an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Advanced Consulting Partner, a Red Hat Partner, and a Scrum Alliance partner. We hold ISO 9001 certification and a CMMI-DEV ML3 rating. Our office is in Arlington, VA.

Mission & Values

Our mission is to help Excellians (our employees) build their careers by creating impactful solutions for clients and helping organizations achieve their technology goals. We aim to deliver lasting results and efficiency through collaboration, often challenging conventional approaches.

Our “people first” philosophy means we value collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous learning. We are committed to creating a supportive environment where employees feel welcomed, respected, and part of a community.

We also invest in our community through our ImpaX program, partnering with organizations like Homestretch to address homelessness.

Team & Culture

We have between 201 and 500 employees, and we cultivate a collaborative, agile, and inclusive work environment. We see ourselves as a community of experts, collaborators, teachers, creatives, and thinkers.

We hire for a “long-term Excella fit” rather than for specific projects, aiming to build a stable team. Our culture promotes mentorship and provides clear paths for career growth, encouraging employees to learn and develop.

We value diverse backgrounds and experiences, believing this improves our problem-solving. We support a flexible and distributed workforce, offering options for home offices or client sites, and promoting work-life integration. We encourage continuous learning, adopting new technologies, and applying Agile principles in daily work.

Benefits & Perks

We offer comprehensive benefits including top-tier medical, dental, and vision plans with multiple options, employer-contributed health savings accounts, infertility coverage, and orthodontia. Employees receive 8 weeks of fully paid parental leave, discounted pet insurance, and a Care.com membership that includes 3 backup emergency child or elder care days annually.
