We develop a medical imaging data management and analysis platform. Our platform helps healthcare professionals, researchers, and innovators access and organize medical imaging data. It supports the creation of imaging algorithms, biomarker discovery, and improvements in patient care. The platform simplifies data management, automates research workflows, assists with AI development, and scales to user needs.

We help pharmaceutical and biotech researchers speed up drug development and use data more effectively in R&D. For clinical researchers, we offer a medical image management system and research workflow solution that secures data access, processing, analysis, and collaboration. Medical device developers use our platform to bring in data from various sources, prepare it for device development, meet R&D goals, and quicken regulatory submissions.

Our platform features include Cohort Discovery, Dataset Curation, Project Validation, Complex Analysis, Algorithm Exchange, and Model Training, all designed to cut down on time spent organizing data.

Dr. Brian Wandell and Gunnar Schaefer founded Flywheel in 2015, based on a system developed at Stanford University. We expanded our capabilities through an acquisition in 2021. In 2023, our managed service became Flywheel Core, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for AI development. We specialize in areas like Informatics, Machine Learning, Medical Research, and Imaging Informatics within the Data Infrastructure and Analytics industry.

We have between 51 and 200 employees, spread across the US and some international locations. We encourage a highly collaborative environment, using platforms like Slack and Teams for communication. Although our headquarters is in Minneapolis, local employees aren’t required to work from the office.
