| About the role:
The QA Engineer is a critical member of this team, ensuring our product quality through scalable automated testing and robust validation across web, mobile, backend, and data layers. Foodsmart is looking for a skilled engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, has strong programming and analytical skills, and brings a proactive approach to testing complex systems.
You will
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for web (ReactJS), mobile (iOS/Android), backend APIs, and data systems
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and reusable code in Java, TypeScript or Python
- Create and execute end-to-end test suites that validate system integration across microservices and data pipelines
- Develop API test automation using Postman, REST Assured, or custom frameworks
- Perform data quality validations on ETL pipelines and cloud-based Data Lakes (e.g., AWS Redshift, S3)
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and DevOps engineers to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline
- Contribute to testing strategies for Data Engineering to ensure accuracy.
- Contribute
- Log, track, and triage issues using tools like Jira and TestRail
- Participate in code reviews and provide input on functional and technical design
- Continuously evaluate new testing tools and approaches to improve QA processes
You are
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to break down complex systems into testable components.
- Collaborative and communicative, partnering well with engineers, PMs, and QA peers.
- Curious and continuously seeking better tools, methods, and insights to improve testing.

You have
- 6+ years of experience as an SDET, QA Automation Engineer, or Software Engineer in test-heavy environments
- Strong programming skills in Java, TypeScript, JavaScript. Able to develop back end and front end code.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Appium, TestNG, JUnit, Protractor, playwright
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and integration testing
- Hands-on experience with SQL and data validation in cloud-based data platforms
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and participating in design and grooming sessions
$115,000 - $135,000 a year

Location: Remote
Base Salary Range: $115,000/yr to $135,000/yr + equity + benefits
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at our headquarters in San Francisco, California. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
