Generation Citizen

Generation Citizen (GC) partners with schools across the U.S. to deliver civics education. We aim to prepare young people for active participation in democracy and advocate for more comprehensive, nonpartisan civics education nationwide.

We provide community-based civics through a hands-on, inquiry-driven curriculum. Students identify issues, research perspectives, and collaborate with local stakeholders. This approach helps students develop critical thinking, communication, and civic participation skills. We also support educators and encourage community members to get involved.

Founded in 2010, we are a team of 11-50 employees.

Generation Citizen’s team includes local and national staff, supported by various boards and student leaders. The team prioritizes diverse hiring to reflect the communities it serves.

The team works across national, Southern, Mid-Atlantic, New England, and Western regions. Founded by a college student, 57% of the mission-driven team identifies as BIPOC. The culture encourages an inclusive work environment where employees can bring their whole selves to work.

We offer competitive salaries that adjust for cost of living and include potential annual performance-based raises.

• Unlimited PTO, paid holidays, and a fully-paid winter break from December 24 to January 2 annually.
• Part-time employees accrue sick time: one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per year.
• We provide a laptop and a monthly $100 work-from-home stipend, plus a $150 work-from-home setup reimbursement.
