Video Operations Specialist (Sports & Live Streaming)

This role is part of Genius’ team that helps sports leagues and teams boost performance on and off the field using cutting-edge tech, analytics, and visual insights.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented operations specialist to join our dynamic team focused on delivering high-quality video and streaming services for the sports industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of tactical video setups and maintaining exceptional service standards for our clients. Working with the Auto-Produced Video department, this individual will also to maintain current legacy video products that serve our data platforms and API’s. Adaptability to absorb additional requirements in the future is a must.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Review and Configure Video Setups: Conduct comprehensive reviews of tactical video setups, ensuring proper pitch coverage, lens, zoom settings, and video/audio quality, while also documenting and addressing past connectivity issues.
  • Confirm Tactical Video Capability: Verify the system’s ability to produce tactical video from both the main and reverse setups at the installation site.
  • Perform Camera Calibrations: Execute camera calibrations according to defined protocols before or during a game, or whenever camera positions are adjusted.
  • Maintain and Output Quality Control (QC): Perform QC checks on video stitching and calibration, and actively monitor live streams and metrics for optimal performance and viewer experience.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Use runbooks and corrective tools to resolve technical issues, provide support for complex scenarios, and liaise with third parties/internal teams, escalating issues to engineering when necessary.
  • Customer and Operational Support: Collaborate with clients and third parties to resolve operational issues and manage vendor communications regarding video availability.
  • Daily Maintenance Tasks: Perform routine tasks including aligning to AI data for video indexing, uploading customer videos to the backend service, and auditing video sources against contractual deliverables.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING :

  • High tolerance for repetitive tasks, with exceptional attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of definitional sports terms and markings, and a solid understanding of major professional sports leagues (current and recent)
  • Experience making time-critical judgment call s in live data processing or engineering support environments
  • Proven ability to collaborate live with remote colleagues
  • Experience in video production and transport, streaming service s, or technical support for live sports events
  • Strong understanding of video technology, including cameras, connectivity, and streaming protocols
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills to support in-venue video delivery
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing tools, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Basic coding skills or the ability to learn scripting (Python or JavaScript preferred)

IT WILL BE A BONUS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Ability to present opinions in a group setting.
  • Strong desire and aptitude to learn new skills as well as build on top of current strengths.
  • Accountable to self prioritize current and upcoming workloads.

Additional Position Details:

  • Must be able and available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able and available to work according to the various sporting league schedules, which includes holidays during the regular season (including day after Christmas Day (Boxing Day) and New Year’s Day).
  • Must possess flexibility, including early morning and late evenings.
