Founded in 2009, we provide business consulting services specifically for solo and small law firms. We offer outside Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) services. These services focus on law firm marketing, operations, growth, and helping firms get started. We help law firm owners implement clear strategies, systems, and support so they can achieve sustainable growth and operational freedom.

Our approach begins with an assessment called “The Pause” or “Law Firm Diagnostic.” This helps us understand a firm’s current state and diagnose growth opportunities without offering a one-size-fits-all system. Instead, we use our extensive experience to develop customized strategies and help implement them. We help law firm owners build the business side of their firms with the same care they apply to the legal side. Our founder, RJon Robins, started as a Small Law Firm Management Advisor in 1999, working with thousands of law firms before establishing How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm. We currently assist over 500 law firms.

We think struggle often comes from ineffective systems, not from a noble state. We also believe great lawyers become great owners when they seek support and don’t try to manage everything alone. Our core operational beliefs are that causes lead to effects in business and life, reality does not negotiate, and facing challenges directly without excuses is essential for success. We aim to provide training, support, and the right business models to solve operational problems in law firms.

We employ 51-200 people. Our work environment is fully remote and emphasizes independent work, trust, and follow-through, while also paying attention to our members’ needs. Fractional C-suite roles (CEO, COO, CFO, CMO) often work together in pods.
