We’re looking for a Senior Instructional Designer who is passionate about creating educational content that helps millions of organizations grow better. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who leverages advanced expertise to innovate and optimize processes, driving significant improvements and results while contributing to HubSpot’s educational mission.

As a Senior Instructional Designer at HubSpot Academy, you’ll be responsible for independently leading the development and production of on-demand educational content aimed at driving activation, adoption, and long-term usage of HubSpot products. You’ll create high-impact learning experiences that empower customers, partners, and prospects to maximize their use of the HubSpot platform, facilitating user success and business growth. The role requires advanced understanding of instructional design principles, proficiency with content creation tools, and comprehensive knowledge of HubSpot’s product offerings, as well as the ability to craft innovative educational experiences that are globally scalable, accessible, and inspiring while mentoring others and leading complex initiatives.

This role sits on the HubSpot Academy team and reports to the Manager of HubSpot Academy Education. You’ll work alongside other Instructional Designers, HubSpot Academy Trainers, and Customer Evangelists to develop comprehensive educational strategies that align with HubSpot’s business objectives.

In this role, you’ll get to:

Content Development:

  • Apply advanced learning theories and customize instructional design frameworks to create comprehensive on-demand sophisticated educational content for complex topics
  • Lead the development of high-impact Academy on-the-go educational content to support key initiatives and product launches such as Spotlight, scaled onboarding etc.
  • Innovate in visual storytelling by integrating advanced graphics, animations, and visual cues to elevate learning experiences
  • Represent HubSpot at major conferences and events, such as INBOUND and Grow, as a recognized product expert and facilitator

User Engagement & Feedback:

  • Proactively gather and integrate comprehensive learner feedback to optimize user experience and customize content for different user journeys
  • Use data analysis to identify meaningful trends and make strategic recommendations for large-scale content updates
  • Ensure content drives clear user progress toward learning outcomes while supporting business objectives

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Lead cross-departmental collaboration and facilitate productive discussions to ensure alignment around educational objectives
  • Drive strategic, cross-functional, educational projects with minimal supervision

Project Management:

  • Manage complex project elements strategically with comprehensive planning for large-scale initiatives and cross-functional coordination
  • Optimize advanced tool features and processes to enhance team workflows and project efficiency
  • Develop organized documentation systems that enhance transparency and track progress against strategic milestones

Skills Development & Professional Growth:

  • Proactively research and implement innovative learning tools and methodologies
  • Master technical workflows and AI tools, integrating multiple technologies for superior educational experiences
  • Mentor peers in effective instructional design techniques and provide guidance on best practices

Quality Assurance & Content Standards:

  • Create advanced assessment strategies and scenario-based evaluations that measure skill application
  • Proactively ensure content meets accessibility standards and addresses diverse learning styles with cultural considerations

  • You dedicate time to increasing knowledge of HubSpot tools, workflows, and integrations and can support complex use cases and advanced platform features.

  • You manage and thrive in ambiguous environments, providing leadership in uncertain situations and coaching others to develop flexibility.

  • You use advanced knowledge of adult learning theory to develop learning experiences that support autonomous, goal-oriented adult learners.

  • You proactively ensure content meets diverse accessibility standards and addresses various learning styles with cultural considerations.

  • You proactively research and introduce innovative learning methodologies, design controlled experiments, and create frameworks for evaluating experiments.

  • You apply advanced learning theories, customize instructional design frameworks, create scenario-based assessments, and make substantial content improvements using data-driven feedback.

  • You proactively use comprehensive learner data and feedback to inform content strategy and optimize user experience while identifying meaningful trends.

Pay & Benefits

The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Annual Cash Compensation Range:

$88,000—$132,000 USD
