In this role, you will help redefine what is possible with observability and security data. As part of the Engineering Team you will play an important role in bringing Imply Lumi to life. Lumi delivers lightning fast queries, significant cost savings and seamless integration with leading observability technologies while giving customers the freedom to innovate without vendor lock-in. You will be a part of the team innovating and building this first-in-class technology that allows our customers to unlock new levels of speed, scale and value from their data.

The Role
We are looking for a strong Engineering Manager to lead our Ecosystem Team in India. This team owns all aspects of query execution in Imply Lumi, including query planning, optimization, query functions and distributed query execution.
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a team of backend engineers focused on building high-performance systems. You will drive technical execution, raise the engineering bar, and work closely with Product and global engineering leaders to define and deliver the roadmap.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is deeply passionate about distributed systems and database internals, and excited about building and scaling a world-class engineering team in India.
Responsibilities
- Hire top engineering talent in India
- Foster the growth of your team members through active feedback and coaching
- Work closely with product management and engineering leadership to build a roadmap for your team
- Own execution and delivery for the team—roadmaps, timelines, and quality
- Build a strong engineering culture rooted in ownership, excellence, and accountability
- Participate in code and design reviews when needed
- Help field engineering in supporting our customers
Requirements
- 8 years of engineering experience and 2 years of engineering management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional work experience)
- Experience working on the internals of large-scale distributed systems and databases
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers with ease

- A history of open-source contributions is a plus; being a committer on a data-related project is a big plus
