Overview
Instacart is seeking a Manager, Legal Technology & Operations to own the strategy and execution of innovative technology and operational initiatives that support both our legal department and broader business functions.
This role is a unique blend of strategic planning, technology leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work across procurement, accounting, HR, sales, deal desk, IT, engineering, and enterprise systems — driving automation, cost savings, and scalable processes that keep pace with Instacart’s growth. If you thrive at the intersection of law, operations, and technology — and love building things that last — this role is for you.
About the Job
- Lead strategic planning and execution of legal and business operations initiatives, with a focus on automating legal processes at scale — including Go-To-Market strategies, CPQ implementations and enhancements, and Ironclad support for new ad formats and retailer engagements.
- Own the design and deployment of efficient, customer-centric operational methods within our Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems, ensuring cohesive cross-functional collaboration across teams including procurement, accounting, HR, sales, deal desk, IT, engineering, and enterprise systems.
- Drive technology innovation by identifying and evaluating emerging tools and trends, leading the successful implementation and ongoing optimization of legal technology systems, and resolving technical issues that impact operations.
- Implement procurement practices that generate cost savings in the contracting and review process — including Oracle, Zip, Salesforce and Workday integrations with CLM, and P2P merging with contract review workflows.
- Manage the eBilling system and adhere to Billing Guidelines; participate in RFPs and law firm evaluations to drive accountability and increase cost-savings across the legal department.
- Champion a transparent organizational culture by facilitating effective internal communication and advocating for the adoption of innovative processes across the business.
About You
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in legal operations, strategy & operations, or a related field, with demonstrated experience managing technology systems and cross-functional programs.
- Proven track record leading at least two end-to-end technology implementations with deep systems integrations (e.g., Ironclad, Zip, Salesforce, CPQ, Oracle, Workday, etc.)
- Strong analytical and project management skills, with the ability to drive multiple complex initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with direct experience collaborating across legal, finance, IT, and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a high-growth tech company or similarly dynamic organization where you’ve had to build and scale operations from the ground up.
- Prior management experience, including team leadership or direct people management.
- Familiarity with Go-To-Market operations, deal desk workflows, or sales process infrastructure.
- Experience conducting vendor RFPs, law firm evaluations, or managing external legal spend.
- Demonstrated ability to identify automation opportunities and lead change management efforts that drive organizational adoption of new processes.
- Passion for leveraging emerging technology — including AI-powered tools — to enhance legal and business operations.
