ABOUT THE ROLE
Kaseya is looking for a Software Engineer I to join our R&D team working on our industry-leading Backup product.
This is an opportunity to build a strong foundation in backend development and cloud-based systems. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to develop, test, and maintain reliable backup services, while gaining hands-on experience with modern technologies like cloud platforms, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
You’ll be supported through mentorship and code reviews while contributing to systems where reliability, performance, and scalability matter.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience — internships count
- Basic backend development skills in Go or PHP, or a strong willingness to learn one
- Fundamental understanding of SQL databases (e.g. MySQL)
- Basic knowledge of RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
- Understanding of core programming concepts: data structures, algorithms, OOP
- Basic understanding of Linux/Unix environments
- Exposure to automated testing concepts (unit or integration)
- English proficiency at B1–B2 level for communication and documentation
Nice to Have
- Exposure to any public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with Docker or containerisation concepts
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Awareness of Kubernetes, even at a conceptual level
- Introductory knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS)
- Understanding of microservices architecture concepts
- Awareness of basic security principles
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop & Learn: Contribute to backend services and tools under guidance from senior engineers
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
- Testing: Help implement and maintain automated tests
- Debugging: Assist in troubleshooting issues in development and staging environments
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members to deliver features and improvements
- Documentation: Contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge sharing
- Growth: Continuously develop your skills in backend systems, cloud, and infrastructure
