About Laterite

We are a data, research, and analytics firm. We started in Rwanda in 2010, focusing on data collection and development research.

We help clients understand and analyze complex development challenges in areas such as education, public health, agriculture, livelihoods, youth, gender, urbanization, and migration. We offer full support for research projects and evaluations, from collecting data to analyzing it. This means we provide experienced field teams with local knowledge for primary data collection. We also use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and geospatial data to improve research.

Our clients include universities, global think tanks, international NGOs, multilateral donor organizations, and government ministries and agencies like the World Bank, Save the Children, USAID, and the Mastercard Foundation.

We have offices in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa), Kenya (Nairobi), Rwanda (Kigali), Sierra Leone (Freetown), Tanzania (Dar es Salaam), Uganda (Kampala), Peru (Lima), and the Netherlands (Amsterdam).

We believe a thorough understanding of the local context is essential to provide sound advice. That’s why we only conduct research where we have a local presence and build local teams. We are committed to ethical research, prioritizing the safety and dignity of participants. We also work exclusively on projects with the potential for scalable social impact.

We have over 90 full-time staff and more than 2,500 enumerators, creating a culturally diverse and dynamic work environment. We foster a professional culture based on respect, inclusion, and collaboration among our multidisciplinary teams.
