Senior Lawyer Construction

Job Description

LegalVision is a market disruptor in the commercial legal services industry. Our innovative business model and custom-built technology allow our lawyers to provide a faster, better quality and more cost-effective client experience. LegalVision is a leader in delivering legal services in Australia and has assisted more than 150,000 businesses across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. We were named a LinkedIn Top Startup, one of Lawyers Weekly’s Top 25 Attraction Firms, and Law Firm of the Year at the Australasian Law Awards.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a talented Senior lawyer to join our growing Construction & Infrastructure team. We’re looking for a technically strong lawyer with a passion for client service, who is keen to help us build our practice further.

You’ll be working with an energetic and high-performing team of lawyers across a broad range of construction, infrastructure and commercial matters. Our team services small, medium and enterprise-level clients, with a focus on providing efficient, cost-effective and quality legal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of construction contracts including Australian Standards (construct only and design and construct), Residential Building Contracts (all States and Territories), Consultancy Agreements, Subcontractor Agreements, and ECI Agreements.
  • Advising clients on contract procurement strategies.
  • Assisting with contractual claims and interpretation.
  • Advising clients on a range of regulatory compliance matters such as: security of payment claims, DBP Act and RAB Act compliance, and residential and commercial building industry licensing requirements (all States and Territories).
  • Contributing to the growth of team and business through the delivery of articles, external webinars, and internal ‘LV Academy’ training sessions.
  • Working closely with your Practice Leaders, helping to train graduates, and being part of a fun, motivated and supportive team.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Quality experience: 5+ years’ experience from a reputable legal environment, whether in-house or private practice or both, with demonstrated experience working on front end construction/infrastructure matters. Additional experience in general commercial contracts will be highly valued.
  • Attentive: Brilliant attention to detail; nothing ever slips through the cracks.
  • Efficient: Prioritises effectively; focuses on what matters; smashes it out.
  • Autonomous: Likes help, but doesn’t need too much of it; owns their work and is capable of working independently; loves responsibility and working directly with clients.
  • Collaborative: Gets a kick out of working with smart, fun and passionate people and learning from them.
  • Adaptable: Grasps new concepts quickly; improves every day; goes with the flow.

The Perks

  • Fast-paced environment with accelerated growth opportunities for high performers.
  • Talented and energetic teammates across the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Earn additional ‘LV Leave’ days, plus paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
  • Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
  • Regular team socials, drinks and team lunches.
  • Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills super close to Central Station, and flexible work-from-home options.
