About Mae
We provide a maternal health solution that expands access to doula support and other resources proven to improve maternal health outcomes. We connect individuals and families with personalized, community-based doula support, on-demand resources, and education. We also help community-based doulas grow their businesses by matching them with clients and managing billing and Medicaid reimbursement. We partner with health plans, including Medicaid and Individual and Family Plans, to integrate doula support, track risks, and coordinate digital care. Our goal is to reduce costs and address health disparities.
Our services are covered by insurance and include dedicated care coordinators. These coordinators guide members through their pregnancy journey, assist with benefits navigation, and provide access to classes and expert resources. We prioritize maternal health equity; our program is built with Black maternal health at its core.
Our program has achieved significant results: a 41% reduction in preterm birth rates, a 26% reduction in C-section rates, and 72% doula utilization. We have facilitated over 12,000 doula sessions and served more than 6,000 members. We currently support 19 health plans across 11 states, including Molina Healthcare, Meridian, BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, BlueCross BlueShield FEP, Aetna Health Insurance, and United Healthcare Community Plan.
