The Role
Reporting to the Director of Network Strategy, the Network Procurement Officer supports the sourcing of infrastructure, colocation services, network and internet services. The role ensures Megaport delivers a high-performing, scalable, and commercially efficient network with accurate inventory, strong cost controls, and effective commercial oversight.
As Megaport expands globally, you will use market knowledge and strategic thinking to identify opportunities that support network growth while delivering commercial value. You will engage with Data Centre Operators, Network suppliers, partners and collaborate with internal teams, including Network Engineering, Finance/Commercial Desk, Sales, and Operations teams, to ensure our infrastructure strategy is robust, innovative, and aligned with business goals.
Key responsibilities include managing vendor relations, ensuring compliance with third-party agreements, assisting with special projects, and providing recommendations to senior stakeholders. By balancing optimal network design with cost efficiency, you will help drive savings while enabling Megaport’s global expansion.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You will regularly engage with network operators in the Asia-Pacific (APAC/ANZ) region and support the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and North America (NAM) regions as part of a team.
- Lead the analysis and preparation of business cases to support network expansion initiatives.
- You will assist in negotiating and managing agreements with suppliers to secure favourable terms.
- Contribute to the development of the annual cost of goods sold (COGS) budget.
- Collaborate with Finance to prepare monthly COGS reporting, including value-added commentary.
- Provide monthly reporting on key performance indicators relating to network costs.
- Engage with Network Engineering and Operations teams to develop and support network strategies and improvements.
- Identify and support initiatives that improve the performance, scalability, and commercial efficiency of the network.
- Assist with the negotiation and administration of supplier agreements.
- Maintain accurate procurement and vendor records.
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as directed by management.
What We Are Looking For
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in procurement, vendor management, or business development within telecommunications or a related field.
- Experience managing contracts and suppliers, ideally across multiple vendors and regions (APAC, EMEA, NAM).Commercial understanding of network transport, internet transit, and data centre services.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and technologies (e.g. OSI model) preferred.
- Confidence reviewing contractual terms and engaging with suppliers on commercial discussions.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with experience in budgeting or cost analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks, demonstrating strong self-motivation and effective time management, particularly when working remotely or across different time zones.
