🔒 Cybersecurity🟢 Entry Level

Job description

Location Home based (This role will require regular UK travel and at times need you to stay away from home) Travel 1–2 times per month

Since our establishment in 1990, Methods has partnered with a range of central government departments and agencies to transform the way the public sector operates in the UK.

Our mission is to improve and safeguard public-facing services. We apply digital thinking to ensure the future of our public services is centred around our citizens.

Our human touch sets us apart from other consultancies, system integrators and software houses - we have a customer-centric value system whereby we focus on delivering what is right for our clients.

We passionately support our clients in the success of their projects while working collaboratively to share skill sets and solve problems. At Methods we have fun while working hard; we are not afraid of making mistakes and learning from them.

Methods are experts in delivering secure, resilient cyber and information services keeping systems and data safe.

We help reduce risk and vulnerabilities from cyber-attacks by developing a security road-map tailored to your unique needs.

We help organisations improve processes such as threat management by building an identity management programme, and establishing prevention, detection and response capabilities to cyber-attacks.

We’re looking for an Associate Cyber Security Consultant with a strong interest in GRC and Assurance, an ideal entry point for those early in their cyber careers, particularly with a Cyber Security degree or Master’s, and some initial industry exposure.

This role gives you broad visibility across cyber disciplines, with structured support to help you find your specialism over time.

You’ll support cyber consultants across assurance, governance, and risk activities, gaining hands-on exposure to how security operates in real, regulated environments.

  • Supporting governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) activities across client engagements
  • Assisting with security assessments of systems, services, and suppliers against policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Contributing to risk assessments, risk registers, and treatment plans, helping organisations understand and manage cyber risk
  • Supporting assurance, accreditation, and certification activities, including evidence gathering and audit support
  • Researching threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends, translating technical findings into clear risk and business impacts
  • Identifying common risk indicators and control gaps, and supporting pragmatic mitigation approaches
  • Maintaining accurate, auditable records to support governance and decision-making
  • Acting as a point of coordination for client queries, escalating issues appropriately within the cyber team
  • Supporting the planning, documentation, and continuous improvement of cyber services and delivery processes

You’ll work closely with consultants across GRC, architecture, operations, and delivery, giving you a wide cyber foundation early in your career.

Who this role is for:

This role suits someone at the start of their cyber career who wants a broad grounding before specialising.

You’ll likely have:

  • A Cyber Security degree or Master’s (or a related technical discipline)
  • Some hands-on exposure to IT, security, risk, or compliance — through work, placements, internships, or early roles
  • Interest in GRC, assurance, and risk management as a foundation into cyber
  • An understanding of networking, systems, and core security concepts
  • Curiosity around frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g. ISO, NIST, public-sector assurance models)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to explain technical issues clearly
  • A structured, organised mindset with good attention to detail

Equally important:

  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain SC clearance
  • Confidence working with stakeholders and delivery teams
  • A collaborative, learning-focused approach
  • A genuine interest in how cyber supports better public services This role will require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard; details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website Gov.UK. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed, or rejected . Details of this will be discussed with you at interview
