About Metropolitan Opera
Founded in 1883, we are a nonprofit performing arts organization. We are home to singers, conductors, composers, musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers.
We present opera productions, such as Mason Bates’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, and Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
Beyond performances, we also raise funds through donor engagement and ticket package sales. Our membership programs offer benefits like subscriptions to Opera magazine, discounts at the Met Opera Shop, priority ticketing, and access to virtual content.
