Job Description
The MUFG Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Team provides middle office and trade support services for investment managers. By outsourcing operational functions to the BPO team, clients leverage specialised operational expertise, improved scalability, and the ability to focus on core investment activities.
As an Associate Director, you will play a senior leadership role in ensuring high-quality service delivery, strong client partnerships, and operational excellence. You will act as a senior escalation point, oversee multiple clients, operational processes, and drive continuous improvement across the BPO function. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strong people leadership, and the ability to engage confidently with clients, brokers, custodians, and internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will interact with prospective clients across the APAC region and must possess the ability to articulate and demonstrate our business offering with clarity and depth.
As an Associate Director, you will:
- Provide senior oversight of daily middle-office operations, including cash, position, and trade-activity reconciliations, ensuring exceptions are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Oversee trade support processes—including trade matching, confirmation, instruction, and settlement—for multiple asset classes.
- Monitor third-party matching platforms and custodian portals to ensure timely matching and settlement.
- Support and supervise the full trade lifecycle from post-execution through settlement, liaising with brokers, custodians, and counterparties to minimize settlement fails.
- Ensure all client deliverables are met across daily, weekly, and monthly cycles, maintaining alignment to SLAs and KPIs.
- Review and maintain the integrity and scope of SLAs with clients, ensuring new requests are evaluated appropriately.
- Act as a senior escalation point for clients, ensuring issues are managed with urgency and professionalism.
- Perform senior-level quality checks on client deliverables to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Lead, coach, and develop junior team members to promote a high-performing culture.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve client experience.
- Sponsor and lead departmental and cross-functional projects, including client onboarding and new tool implementation.
- Ensure operational procedures remain current and aligned with industry standards.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in middle office, trade support, settlements, or outsourced operations.
- University degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of financial products including equities, fixed income, FX, futures, options, CFDs, IRS, TRS, OTC derivatives, and private equity.
- Deep understanding of post-trade processes, operational controls, and trade lifecycle management.
- Experience with trade matching and settlement platforms such as OMGEO CTM, ALERT, Traiana, MarkitSERV, or IceLink.
- Strong Excel skills; VBA knowledge and familiarity with reconciliation platforms are advantageous.
- Experience with portfolio management or front-office systems such as Enfusion, Calypso, Eze, or Broadridge Portfolio Master is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients, brokers, custodians, and internal teams.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work autonomously while managing evolving priorities.
