About Mujin
We founded Mujin in Tokyo, Japan, in 2011 to build automation machinery. We develop platforms for factory, industrial, warehouse, and logistics automation, focusing on intelligent robotics. Our main products are MujinController and MujinOS.
MujinController uses a real-time digital twin, perception, planning, and control algorithms to let robots move autonomously. Unlike traditional robots, those powered by MujinController can think and move autonomously with MujinMI (Machine Intelligence). This allows our robots to adapt to changing environments in real-time without manual intervention and removes tedious programming. In 2015, we launched the first teachless controller, MujinController PickWorker, for bulk picking.
MujinOS gives robots advanced capabilities. It allows them to perform various tasks with perception, awareness, and autonomous decision-making, all without custom development or training algorithms. This means faster setup and seamless integration, reducing the need for constant monitoring or human intervention.
Our technology handles applications like palletizing, depalletizing, piece picking, bin picking, and robotic case picking. In 2023, we introduced TruckBot, a robot designed to unload containers and trailers at up to 1,000 cases per hour.
We opened offices in Guangzhou, China (2019), Atlanta, USA (2021), and Best, Netherlands (2023). In 2020, MujinController won the Prime Minister Award at the second Japan Open Innovation Prize. Our piece picking robot with a multi-pick end effector received the RBR50 Innovation Award in 2021.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to use intelligent robotics to create safer, more efficient workplaces. We started Mujin to help solve the global shortage of manual labor through automation. We believe that organizations of any size should be able to use intelligent automation.
By having robots handle dirty, tedious, or dangerous tasks, we free up human labor for more effective work. Ultimately, we aim to increase global productivity, improving lives now and in the future.
Team & Culture
We have 201-500 employees. We aim to create “human-friendly” work environments. Our culture encourages team members to grow, develop ideas in real-time, push boundaries, and solve real-world problems. Our cross-functional teams work on logistics and automotive automation technologies, using hybrid Agile/waterfall approaches.
