So, what’s the role all about?
Nice Actimize is seeking a seasoned Database Architect with 17+ years of experience to spearhead database modernization and optimization efforts. This role requires an expert in PostgreSQL with strong heritage in Oracle and SQL Server, deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture on AWS, and experience managing EC2-based PostgreSQL environments. The individual will lead complex migrations, ensure high performance at engine and query levels, and act as a strategic consultant to implementation and customization teams.
How will you make an impact?
- Lead end-to-end migration of large-scale databases from Oracle (PL/SQL) and SQL Server (T-SQL) to PostgreSQL.
- Refactor legacy SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and functions into optimized PL/pgSQL.
- Collaborate with developers to review code, validate SQL performance, and troubleshoot production bottlenecks.
- Drive performance tuning by analyzing workloads, optimizing execution plans, refining indexing, and adjusting engine configurations.
- Demonstrate expertise in High Availability architecture, backup & recovery, Postgres internals, WAL archiving, MVCC, and autovacuum tuning.
- Plan database infrastructure, capacity, and scaling strategies for high performance.
- Implement RBAC, SSL/TLS, and audit logging for compliance.
- Use migration tools including ora2pg, AWS SCT/DMS, or custom ETL frameworks.
- Leverage monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, pg_stat_statements, and pgBadger.
- Utilize Bash, Python, or Go for automation.
- Work with cloud-managed PostgreSQL on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Have you got what it takes?
- Expert-level PostgreSQL experience (versions 12–17).
- Strong proficiency in Oracle (SQL + PL/SQL) and SQL Server (T-SQL).
- Advanced Linux Administration (RHEL/Ubuntu).
- Hands-on experience with migration tools such as ora2pg, AWS SCT/DMS.
- Monitoring expertise with Prometheus, Grafana, pg_stat_statements, pgBadger.
- Automation skills in Bash, Python, or Go.
- Cloud experience with AWS/GCP/Azure-managed PostgreSQL services.
- Experience with HA/DR, replication, and scaling strategies.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
- Understanding CI/CD workflows for database changes.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

- Strategic thinking with ability to translate business needs into scalable models.
- Proven record managing high-pressure production outages and conducting RCA.
