Nine is Australia’s largest locally owned media company. Working at Nine, you’ll have access to a unique range of experiences and opportunities, helping drive the success of the country’s most trusted television, radio, digital and publishing brands.
Our content reaches almost every Australian - meaning what we do has real impact. We bring people together, celebrate the big moments, and capture the everyday ones.
Some of our most beloved brands have been part of Australian life for generations, and others - new on the scene - have already found their place firmly in our lives. We’re evolving and we need people like you to bring new ideas, innovate and make your mark.
Job Description
As a Product Manager within our Commercial Platforms Team, you will support the development of Nine’s mission-critical programming and broadcast fulfillment engine (Phoenix). You’ll play a key role in enabling the business objectives around how best to show schedules, promos, and commercial advertisements into a single master playlist for both linear and digital television.
You will work within a high-performing engineering squad to translate complex business processes into precise technical requirements. You will act as a strategic partner to the Programming, Broadcast Operations, and Finance teams, using logical, data-backed roadmaps to ensure we deliver a seamless platform that powers Nine’s content strategy.
What you’ll do:
Lead the end-to-end lifecycle for Phoenix features, from initial discovery and user story creation to launch and post-launch optimisation.
Evaluate and map workflows to ensure seamless integration of programming and rights management requirements and business processes.
Facilitate grooming sessions and maintain a prioritised backlog with clear, actionable acceptance criteria for your dedicated engineering squad.
Partner with Engineers and QE to manage software development processes, including the conceptual design of APIs, data models, and system integrations.
Apply clear frameworks to manage competing business needs and maintain a high-velocity, high-impact roadmap.
Contribute delivery insights and stakeholder feedback to the overall Programming & Rights Management System (PRMS) vision and the broader commercial strategy.
Define key metrics and analyse post-launch data to identify areas for iterative improvement, ensuring the platform delivers the expected value to the business.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
3 + years of Product Management or Business Analysis experience with a track record of delivering software products.
Experience managing product backlogs and driving execution within an Agile framework.
Proven ability to map out complex end-to-end workflows and translate manual business processes into scalable system logic.
A good grasp of software development processes and technologies, including APIs, data models, and system integrations.
Ability to translate business needs and high-level objectives into actionable product initiatives.
Strong communication skills to influence and align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to problem-solving and impact measurement.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, design, and operations teams.
Experience working with Programming & Rights management systems in context to Broadcast and Digital TV is desirable but not essential.
