We started OfferUp in 2011 to make it easy for people to buy, sell, and connect locally. Our mobile marketplace helps users find new and secondhand items, jobs, professional services, and home rentals. We prioritize simplicity and safety in our design.

We also offer “OfferUp for Business,” a B2B platform that helps small and medium-sized businesses, service providers, and auto dealerships list and manage their products.

We are a privately held company based in Bellevue, WA, with backing from investors like Andreessen Horowitz, Warburg Pincus, GGV Capital, T. Rowe Price, and Coatue Management. We focus on consumer-to-consumer (C2C) mobile and local commerce.

Our technical operations use a modern AI stack, including DataBricks and SageMaker. Our engineering teams develop scalable real-time microservices and build web experiences using technologies such as NodeJS, React, and React Native.

Our mission at OfferUp is to “unleash the power of local.” We help people discover more of what they need in their community, building our marketplace around simplicity and safety. Ultimately, we aim to create a more connected and sustainable world.

OfferUp has 201-500 employees. Our engineering culture focuses on creating well-architected and thoroughly tested code, defining technical strategy, and building scalable real-time microservices. We prioritize reliability, low latency, and robust monitoring. Engineers work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor junior colleagues, and ensure operational excellence.

Our data science team designs and deploys machine learning solutions for areas like search, discovery, trust & safety, advertising, and personalization. They move ideas from hypothesis to A/B testing and full production.

Product operations teams use data to inform decisions, turning large datasets into practical insights that shape product strategy and boost revenue.

Many of our roles, especially in product operations and finance, follow a hybrid model, requiring at least two days a week in our Bellevue, WA office. We encourage an environment of continuous learning, a deep understanding of system architecture, and exploration of new technologies.
