Job Description

Who we are:

PikPok is a global video game studio with more than 25 years of experience, with offices in New Zealand and Colombia. In New Zealand, we operate as a medium-sized company, while our current structure in Colombia is that of a small business. Our team is multicultural, making English the primary working language.

We have a portfolio that spans games at various stages of the product lifecycle, supported by diverse revenue models, with a presence on mobile, PC, consoles, and virtual reality platforms. Today, we distribute our titles in more than 30 countries, connecting with players around the world.

About the role:

We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our technical team, reporting directly to the IT Coordinator. In this role, you will have the autonomy to execute activities within the established strategic frameworks, having sufficient knowledge to evaluate the risks of your actions and the confidence to debate or propose revisions to tactical decisions when you consider that the direction needs to be adjusted.

It is essential to have both the interest and the ability to work across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments within a constantly evolving context, where a proactive mindset toward learning and solving unexpected challenges is key. In this role, you will act as a technical escalation proxy for our projects and game development teams, effectively bridging needs across different areas. This requires strong communication skills and a clear service-oriented approach when collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

You will play a critical role in ensuring reliable and uninterrupted operations, while also contributing to defining and optimizing the sizing and capacity of our technological infrastructure.

The IT Infrastructure Engineer’s responsibilities include:

  • Implement and monitor infrastructure and systems solutions: Execute the administration and maintenance of the studio’s IT infrastructure through proactive monitoring, preventive maintenance, and the application of security updates on physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux).Ensure the operability of the studio’s networks, managing TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and traffic prioritization (QoS) services.

    • Operational Continuity: Implement and monitor redundancy strategies, information backup plans (SAN/NAS), and disaster recovery protocols (BCP/DRP).
    • Security & Hardening: Apply frontline security controls, including system hardening, the operational management of antimalware/EDR consoles, and vulnerability resolution according to CIS/NIST standards.
  • Provide empathetic, constructive, and relevant technical service to the entire organization: Serve as the senior technical reference for the Help Desk, analyzing root causes, applying advanced solutions to systems and networks, and documenting technical procedures.

  • Implement CI/CD solutions: Collaborate with the global team in optimizing the DevOps pipeline, operating the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure, container environments (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD tools (GitLab, TeamCity), and automation scripts (PowerShell/Bash, Ansible).

The IT Infrastructure Engineer’s required knowledge and experience should include:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure and support roles.
  • Technologist or professional degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related technological disciplines.
  • English minimum level B2+.
  • Demonstrable experience managing physical and virtual servers (e.g., VMware, Windows Server, Linux), including provisioning and optimization. Advanced proficiency in networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN).
  • Demonstrable experience with SAN/NAS solutions, ensuring data availability and backup integrity.
  • Experience orchestrating containers: particularly services in Kubernetes and Docker environments.

Other desirable knowledge

  • Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) that enable remote access to hardware and services irrespective of architecture.
  • ITSM Frameworks: Familiarity with the adoption of new frameworks, such as ITIL, for service management.
  • Asset & Vendor Management: Experience assisting with hardware lifecycle tracking and coordinating with technology vendors.

Employee benefits

  • Hybrid Work: A flexible approach to balancing office and home time.
  • Professional Growth: Monthly self-directed Lab Days, annual game jams, and access to diverse training opportunities.
  • Supportive Environment: Comprehensive health insurance, home buyer bonus, and a culture that values well-being and diversity.
  • Live the PikPok values: Be curious, take ownership, and collaborate well.
