About the Role
Platform Science is looking for a Financial Controller / FP&A Analyst who doesn’t just process data but truly understands the “why” behind the numbers. Reporting to the Finance leadership, you will be the bridge between operational activity and financial results. This is a hands-on role for a self-starter who enjoys connecting dots across the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. You will play a key part in developing profitability analyses across our European entities and helping non-financial managers understand their performance through high-impact data visualization.
Details: Full-time (40 hours/week). Primary Work Location: Leuven or Ieper, Belgium (Hybrid).
Essential Responsibilities
Reporting & Analysis: Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles. Conduct deep-dive variance analysis (Actuals vs. Budget) to identify cost and revenue drivers.
Forecasting & Budgeting: Support the annual budget process and rolling forecasts using internal KPIs such as FTEs, Salesforce data, and backlog.
Profitability & Cash Flow: Further develop profitability analysis across all European entities and help refine cash flow forecasting models.
Cost Control: Monitor business spending to ensure strict alignment with company policy.
Data Visualization: Create and maintain dashboards (Domo) to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
Process Excellence: Identify bottlenecks in financial workflows and suggest/implement automation solutions.
Experience & Competencies
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in finance/controlling. You know the mechanics of a business but are eager to get your “hands dirty” and be mentored.
Excel Mastery: You are an Excel expert, capable of building scalable, flexible models for rapid data analysis.
Analytical Mindset: You instinctively look for anomalies and seek the business logic behind operational flows.
Accounting Knowledge: You understand the impact of accounting rules and can implement them effectively.
Soft Skills: A proactive self-starter with open, transparent communication skills. You ask the right questions and can explain financial insights clearly.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Over de functie
Platform Science is op zoek naar een Financial Controller / FP&A Analyst die niet alleen data verwerkt, maar ook echt de “waarom” achter de cijfers begrijpt. Je bent de brug tussen de operationele activiteiten en de financiële resultaten. Dit is een hands-on rol voor een zelfstarter die ervan houdt om verbanden te leggen tussen de P&L, de balans en de cashflow. Je speelt een cruciale rol bij het ontwikkelen van winstgevendheidsanalyses voor onze Europese entiteiten en helpt niet-financiële managers hun prestaties te begrijpen via sterke datavisualisatie.
Details: Voltijds (40 uur/week). Werkplek: Leuven of Ieper, België (Hybride).
Essentiële verantwoordelijkheden
Rapportage & Analyse: Ondersteunen bij maandelijkse, kwartaal- en jaarafsluitingen. Uitvoeren van variantie-analyses (Actuals vs. Budget) om kosten- en omzetdrivers te identificeren.
Budgettering & Forecasting: Ondersteunen van het jaarlijkse budgetproces en forecasts op basis van interne KPI’s (FTE’s, Salesforce, backlog).
Winstgevendheid & Cashflow: Verder uitbouwen van winstgevendheidsanalyses voor alle Europese entiteiten en helpen bij het ontwikkelen van cashflow-prognoses.
Cost Controlling: Opvolgen van de bedrijfsuitgaven in lijn met het bedrijfsbeleid.
Datavisualisatie: Creëren van dashboards (Domo) om financiële inzichten duidelijk te communiceren naar niet-financiële stakeholders.
Procesverbetering: Identificeren van bottlenecks in financiële workflows en voorstellen van automatiseringsoplossingen.
Ervaring & Competenties
Ervaring: 2 tot 4 jaar ervaring in finance/controlling. Je begrijpt de mechaniek van een onderneming en bent bereid om operationeel mee te werken.
Excel-expert: Je kunt schaalbare en flexibele modellen bouwen voor snelle data-analyse.
Analytische geest: Je zoekt instinctief naar de logica achter de cijfers en merkt anomalieën snel op.
Boekhoudkundige kennis: Je begrijpt de impact van boekhoudregels en kunt deze zelfstandig implementeren.
Soft Skills: Een proactieve zelfstarter met open en transparante communicatie. Je stelt de juiste vragen en kunt financiële inzichten helder uitleggen.
Opleiding: Bachelor of Master in Finance, Accountancy of een aanverwant veld.
