Job Description

The CCE Summer Experiential Learning Intern will support the development and implementation of multiple summer programs, including our Language Access Program, collaborative projects with the Language Schools, the Service Translation project, and others. Speakers of two or more languages especially encouraged to apply.

This is a Middlebury student Level B position paying $14.95 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

  • ​​​​Outreach to college and community partners and workshop leaders (program development and assistance)

  • ​Design, develop, and implement program activities in collaboration with other CCE professional and/or undergraduate staff (program development and assistance)

  • ​Facilitate and support a positive and safe living environment for undergraduate participants during our Language Access program (June) (program assistant)

  • ​Facilitate and/or co-facilitate daily reflection activities for program participants during our Language Access program (June) (program assistant)

  • ​Implement Middlebury College budgetary and risk management policies as directed by CCE (program assistant)

  • ​Participate in the development and implementation of program evaluation activities in collaboration with other CCE staff (program evaluation)

  • ​If the intern holds a driver’s license in the United States and is eligible for a Middlebury College driver’s license, includes transporting program participants during our Language Access program (June)​

  • ​​Group facilitation experience and/or interest in learning these skills

  • ​​Experience in diverse linguistic and cultural contexts

  • ​Intercultural communications – and interest

  • ​Professional communications

  • ​Flexibility – community-connected programs may require last-minute changes and decisions

  • ​Time management – for self and supporting others

  • ​Speakers of more than one language preferred

  • ​Licensed driver in the US highly preferred, but not required​​

On-campus office work for majority of internship; off-site in Boston, MA, New Haven, CT and New York, NY, assisting program for two weeks in June. Some remote work possible. Desk work, driving (if license-holder), travel to off-site program locations (walking, driving, and/or public transportation may be used).

Student Employment Eligibility:

Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus.

Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions.

Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component .

Student are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.

Hour Limitations:

All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
