1 Resource Group is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a mid-sized intelligent transportation systems (ITS) company. We are helping our client identify a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their Engineering team during a critical stage of product evolution and expansion. The position works full-time and reports to the Chief Technology Officer.
Our client designs and delivers advanced traffic management and intelligent transportation systems used by municipalities and transportation agencies across the country. Their solutions integrate custom hardware, embedded systems, and real-time control technologies to improve roadway safety, traffic efficiency, and infrastructure reliability.
Position Overview
The Hardware Engineer will lead hardware design initiatives from concept through production. This role blends deep technical execution with cross-functional collaboration and mentorship.
You will work closely with firmware, software, product, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure scalable, high-performance, production-ready systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who values ownership, visibility, and long-term growth potential.
- Key Responsibilities
Lead hardware development projects from architecture through production release
Design digital circuits and microprocessor-based board-level systems
Contribute to embedded systems and real-time hardware solutions
Oversee schematic capture and support PCB layout activities
Prototype, test, debug, and validate hardware systems
Collaborate with product stakeholders on functional requirements
Work closely with Quality Assurance to identify and resolve issues
Support vendor engagement and component sourcing
Track project milestones and proactively mitigate technical risk
Mentor junior engineers and support team development
- Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
5–10 years of hands-on hardware development experience
Experience bringing hardware products from prototype to production
Strong digital circuit and embedded systems background
Experience with microprocessor-based board-level design
Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design tools
Experience in cross-functional product development environments
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving ability
Technical ownership mindset

Position requires full-time onsite presence initially. After approximately 3–6 months, a hybrid or limited travel schedule may be available.
