Robbins Recruiting Solutions has partnered with an organization in the mitigation and construction field. The Director of Finance is a senior finance leader and core member of the executive team, responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and strategic use of financial information across all entities. This role serves as the organization’s Controller, owning the financial close, reporting, inter‑company accounting, compliance, and financial governance while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive profitability, cash flow discipline, and informed decision‑making.
This is a hands‑on leadership role, but not a transactional one. The Director of Finance designs, enforces, and improves systems and controls—ensuring the finance organization produces clean, timely, and decision‑ready financials that leadership can rely on.
*Hybrid position near San Antonio, San Marcos or New Braunfels, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
Executive Leadership & Strategic Partnership
•Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the President and executive team.
•Translate complex financial data into clear, practical insights for non finance leaders.
•Participate in executive planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reviews.
•Support growth initiatives, including new entities, structural changes, and potential acquisitions.
•Ensure finance is a proactive strategic partner—not just a reporting function.
Controller & Financial Ownership
•Own the month end close process for all entities, including consolidated financial statements.
•Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of:
Profit & Loss statements
Balance Sheets
Cash Flow statements
Job costing and WIP (mitigation and reconstruction)
•Review and approve journal entries requiring professional judgment, including:
Accruals and prepaids
Depreciation and amortization
Payroll and benefit accruals
WIP and job cost adjustments
Management fees
Inter company entries
•Maintain closing workpapers, balance sheet reconciliations, and documentation standards.
Inter Company Accounting & Reconciliations
•Own and oversee all inter company transactions, balances, and settlements across entities.
•Ensure timely and accurate inter company reconciliations during each close cycle.
•Establish and enforce inter company accounting policies, documentation standards, and approval controls.
•Identify, resolve, and prevent inter company discrepancies through root cause analysis.
•Ensure inter company activity is properly reflected in both entity level and consolidated financials.
Compliance, Controls & Risk Management
•Establish, document, and enforce accounting policies, SOPs, and internal controls.
•Ensure compliance with:
Sales tax, payroll tax, and coordination of income tax filings
Franchise reporting, royalties, and required surveys
Insurance renewals and coverage documentation
•Lead external audits, reviews, and CPA relationships.
•Proactively identify financial, compliance, and control risks and implement corrective action.
Cash Flow, Reporting & Financial Insights
•Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and banking relationships (as applicable).
•Partner with operations and production leadership to ensure:
Accurate job margin reporting
Reliable WIP projections
Meaningful variance analysis and corrective action
•Deliver consistent weekly and monthly reporting that drives accountability and decision making.
Team Leadership & Development
•Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, including controllers, accounting managers, AP/AR, and payroll.
•Set clear expectations, accountability standards, and performance metrics.
•Design scalable roles, workflows, and systems to support organizational growth.
•Serve as escalation point for complex issues while empowering the team to execute effectively.
Qualifications
Required
•10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including controller level responsibility.
•Proven experience owning the full close and financial reporting for multi entity organizations.
•Strong understanding of job costing, WIP accounting, and operational finance.
•Demonstrated experience working directly with executive leadership.
•High standards for accuracy, integrity, and professional judgment.
•Advanced proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks Online or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
•Franchise, construction, restoration, or project based services experience.
•CPA or equivalent professional certification.
•Experience scaling finance teams and systems in a growing organization
$140,000 - $160,000 a year
