About San Diego Community Power

We are a not-for-profit public agency, offering cleaner energy at competitive rates. We purchase electricity from renewable sources, such as solar and wind, which SDG&E then delivers to customer accounts. We serve nearly 1 million customer accounts across the Cities of San Diego, Chula Vista, Encinitas, La Mesa, Imperial Beach, and National City, as well as the unincorporated communities of San Diego County.

Five cities established us as a Joint Powers Authority in 2019-2020. A sixth city and San Diego County joined in 2020, and we began enrolling customers in phases from 2021 through 2023. Since 2021, we have offered competitively priced clean energy and four different service plans. As a public agency, we reinvest revenues into local programs and services. These include customer programs, rebates, and initiatives that promote energy efficiency and help us reach our goal of 100% renewable energy for the San Diego region by 2035 or sooner.

We offer various programs and support, such as state incentives, our own rebates for energy-efficient upgrades like solar and EV installations, energy-saving tips, and bill and payment assistance. We also support San Diego County’s energy-efficiency goals through the San Diego Regional Energy Network.
