About Second Harvest
We are Canada’s largest food rescue organization. We prevent food waste and fight hunger by recovering and distributing surplus food across the nation.
We develop corporate partnerships to generate over $400,000 annually in philanthropic and partnership revenue. We connect food businesses with non-profit partners to ensure surplus food reaches communities.
Our operations rely on the Food Rescue Application (SHFRA app) to manage food recovery and distribution. The app uses Azure cloud infrastructure, .NET backend services, .NET Core, JavaScript, and React. We use CI/CD with Azure DevOps and integrate with Microsoft Dynamics to streamline data.
We operate across Canada, with activities in Alberta (Edmonton and Calgary), Montreal, Toronto, and Etobicoke.
