United Way

We are a global network that helps communities address local needs. We take a hands-on approach, listening to communities and responding to their challenges across tens of thousands of communities worldwide. Our global network, with over 1,100 local United Ways in more than 30 countries, allows us to share innovative solutions and expand our impact.

We focus on four main areas:

• Youth Opportunity: We create opportunities for young people, from early childhood education through college and career success. Each year, we help over 1.1 million families support their children’s education.
• Healthy Community: We improve access to nutritious food, health education, and services. We provide healthcare access to over 2.5 million individuals.
• Financial Security: We connect people with education, tools, and job training to build financial independence. This includes job training programs to help adults succeed in the job market, providing access to secondary school diplomas, licenses, certifications, or vocational training. We provide financial education to over 1.7 million people.
• Community Resiliency: We help communities prepare for, prevent, and respond to challenges, offering crisis support, disaster relief, and environmental protection.

We change approximately 48 million lives annually.

We were founded on the principle of being there whenever communities need us. We believe in the power of community to create lasting change. We work with neighbors globally to strengthen local communities. Our goal is to advance the common good by bringing communities together to act, so that everyone can thrive.

This means helping everyone access better health, youth opportunity, and financial security.

We are a non-profit organization with 201-500 employees. We also have a global network of volunteers and supporters. We emphasize community engagement and collaboration to address local needs and strengthen communities worldwide.
