About Skydance Animation
David Ellison founded Skydance Media in 2010 to produce entertainment for audiences worldwide. We develop stories for feature films, television, animation, interactive games, and new media platforms. Our key productions include the Mission: Impossible and Top Gun film franchises, and television series like Grace and Frankie, Foundation, and Reacher.
We expanded into animation in 2017 with Skydance Animation, which produces films such as Luck and Spellbound and series like WondLa from our Los Angeles and Madrid studios. Skydance Interactive started in 2016, creating virtual reality games including Archangel, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, and Skydance’s BEHEMOTH. In 2019, Skydance New Media was formed to make story-focused interactive experiences, partnering with Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. Skydance Sports launched in 2021, developing scripted and unscripted sports content, documentaries, and events, including Air and Hard Knocks. Most recently, in 2024, we launched Nocturna, a horror film label. We partner with distributors and co-financiers like Paramount Pictures, Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon, Tencent, and CJ ENM.
