Job Description
The Module Design Engineer in the Module Architecture Team plays a key role in ensuring NVMe SSD features are correctly defined, understood, and validated across the product lifecycle. This role goes beyond requirements creation by contributing deep product and architectural knowledge to determine what must be validated to prove functional correctness and standards compliance. By translating architectural intent, firmware behavior, and industry specifications into clear requirements, validation strategies, and enabling software tools, the Module Design Engineer acts as a bridge between architecture, firmware, and validation teams—driving robust, scalable, and high‑quality storage solutions.
Job Purpose
The Module Design Engineer in the Module Architecture Team is responsible for enabling correct, scalable, and standards‑compliant NVMe SSD functionality through a combination of architectural definition, deep product knowledge, and validation enablement. Beyond defining and maintaining module‑level requirements, this role adds value by understanding end‑to‑end product behavior and determining what must be validated to prove functional correctness. The Module Design Engineer translates architectural intent, firmware behavior, and industry specifications into actionable requirements, validation strategies, and enabling tools that ensure features are well‑defined, verifiable, and ready for productization.
Key Responsibilities
- Module Architecture & Requirements Definition
- Define, develop, and maintain module‑level architectural and validation requirements derived from product features, firmware behavior, customer use cases, and NVMe / industry standards.
- Product and Feature Expertise
- Develop deep understanding of SSD products, firmware architecture, and feature interactions to identify validation needs and ensure architectural intent is accurately reflected in implementation and testing.
- Validation Enablement
- Determine what needs to be validated to demonstrate functional correctness by translating requirements and architectural concepts into practical, testable validation strategies and coverage expectations.
- Software Tools and Solutions
- Design, develop, and maintain software tools, scripts, and frameworks that support validation, debug, analysis, and architectural verification across design and validation workflows.
- Traceability and Quality Assurance
- Ensure strong traceability between architecture, requirements, validation content, and results to achieve comprehensive coverage, reduce ambiguity, and support high‑quality product releases.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with firmware, development and QA teams to align architectural definitions with implementation realities, validation execution, and product timelines.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation for architecture, requirements, validation intent, tools, and processes to support consistency, reuse, and long‑term ownership.
- Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to improving module architecture workflows, requirement management practices, and validation tooling to scale across multiple products and future generations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of solid experience in software engineering, hardware or firmware validation, or module / system architecture roles.
- Proficiency in software development (e.g., Python) and familiarity with software architecture principles.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, firmware development, and storage technologies (SSDs, NVMe).
- Ability to translate product and architectural knowledge into clear, testable requirements.
- Experience working with requirement management, documentation, and version control tools (e.g., Jira, R4J, Git).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Working Conditions
This is a hybrid position, requiring three days per week onsite with the flexibility to work two days remotely. The role involves close collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines; therefore, strong communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset are essential. Teamwork, active knowledge sharing, and cross‑functional engagement are highly encouraged and considered critical to success in this role.
