Sora Schools

We are an accredited online private school for students in grades 6-12, established in 2018. We provide a live, virtual, project-based curriculum that matches student interests and learning styles. Our educational model emphasizes student agency, letting them choose subjects, learning methods, and how they demonstrate their knowledge. We focus on hands-on work and real-world application, which helps students build experience portfolios for college and career paths. We connect students with industry mentors. Our curriculum includes STEM, Humanities, independent study, and college-level dual enrollment courses.

We are accredited by Cognia and WASC, and approved by the NCAA and Mastery Transcript Consortium. Our program features small, synchronous classes, a 9:1 student-to-teacher ratio, personal academic advisors, and personalized learning experiences. We offer college and career counseling, guiding students through essays, applications, and financial aid processes. We support remote learning, with students from 45 states and 18 countries. Annual tuition is $17,900, with a flexible tuition program offering need-based grants from $7,500-$16,000. Our graduates have been accepted into institutions such as Harvard University, NYU, Tufts University, and Rhode Island School of Design.

Sora Schools was founded in 2018 and has 11-50 employees. The team, composed of educators, designers, and engineers, collaborates to create learning experiences. The culture is mission-driven and close-knit. The work environment is 100% remote, offering team members flexibility to work from anywhere.

The leadership team includes a Founder and CEO, Chief Operating Officer, Director of School Operations, Head of Schools, High School Director, Middle School Director, Director of Product, Brand Director, and Director of Admissions. Advisors and board members with expertise in education and innovation also guide the company.

We offer competitive salaries. We benchmark our salary ranges against mid-sized U.S. cities (such as Chicago, Austin, Denver, and Washington, DC) and localized international data. All full-time team members receive stock options.

For full-time U.S. roles, we provide 100% health, dental, and vision insurance coverage (75% for dependents), and full life insurance coverage. A 401(k) plan is available for full-time U.S. roles, with 100% matching on the first 3% of contributions and 50% matching on contributions between 3% and 5%. We offer a professional development stipend for each team.

We offer unlimited vacation time, with a minimum goal of 20 days for year-round HQ team members and outside the school year for faculty. Sick time is provided as needed. We support growing families with up to 14 weeks of paid gender-neutral parental leave for births, adoptions, and fostering.
