SpyCloud is hiring a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Console platform powering our Threat Protection product. This is a high-impact role focused on architectural rigor, platform evolution, and AI-enabled engineering leverage.
You will lead a senior-heavy team (~10 engineers) responsible for a multi-tenant SaaS platform Spycloud’s customers. Your mandate is not to scale headcount, it is to scale output, innovation, and system durability through strong architecture and applied AI.
This role reports to the VP of Engineering and operates as a key technical partner with cross-team influence.
What You’ll Do:
Platform Architecture at SaaS Scale
- Own the architectural direction of a multi-tenant Console platform built on Go, React, and AWS, with Domain-Driven Design.
- Elevate system design rigor across APIs, tenant isolation, RBAC, observability, and deployment safety.
- Establish durable platform boundaries and reduce feature-factory behavior.
- Lead design reviews and technical arbitration across teams.
AI-Native Product Capabilities
- Embed applied AI into the Console ( intelligent workflows, LLM-powered summarization, ML-powered insights).
- Architect production-grade AI integrations with attention to guardrails, evaluation, cost, and latency.
- Ensure AI features are secure, observable, and reliable in a multi-tenant environment.
AI-Enabled Engineering Leverage
- Introduce AI agents and automation into the engineering lifecycle.
- Design and build AI workforce model to increase output without linear headcount growth.
- Incubate and lead a focused applied AI capability within the team.
- Set standards for responsible AI usage in development and product.
Product–Engineering Alignment
- Partner deeply with Product to align roadmap, architecture, and long-term platform strategy.
- Translate business outcomes into scalable system capabilities.
- Improve execution clarity, ownership, and delivery predictability.
Requirements:
Architectural Depth
- 10+ years in software engineering with significant experience in scalable web architecture.
- Proven ownership of multi-tenant SaaS systems at meaningful customer scale.
- Strong backend and frontend systems intuition (Go and modern React environments preferred).
- Deep experience operating cloud-native systems in AWS.
AI Systems Competence
- Experience integrating LLMs or ML-driven capabilities into production systems.
- Understanding of evaluation frameworks, prompt patterns, guardrails, and cost-performance tradeoffs.
- Clear thinking around where AI creates durable advantage vs. noise.
Leadership & Influence
- Experience leading senior and staff-level engineers.
- Ability to influence technical direction beyond direct reporting lines.
- Strong design review discipline and decisive architectural judgment.
- Track record of improving engineering execution and product alignment.
